My work

WARNING: This page contains something journalists used to compile called “clips.” That’s when you use a pair of scissors to clip (get it?) your stories from the actual newspaper for your portfolio. Just a heads-up for the under-30 crowd. Proceed.

* You can click on some of the actual clips below (especially from my Trib days) to make them large enough to read.

For ZORA magazine, I wrote about what happened when I tried to tell the story of a woman who was shot by police. It’s a story I’d been keeping to myself, but George Floyd’s killing made it impossible to stay quiet about it.

My first piece for Adweek premium was a fun one — I got to write about the early days of FX and how it blazed a trail for more edgy television.

One of the most enjoyable features I’ve written in a while: A Detroit venture capitalist finances young scientists looking to solve some of our world’s biggest problems.

In Leaps magazine, I wrote about Adidas creating the first shoe that you don’t have to throw away.

For Bello Collective, I broke down all the shortcomings of the Broken Harts podcast.

I wrote this piece about mental health apps for Leaps magazine.

Here’s my opinion piece in the Washington Post about the controversial Serena Williams/Naomi Osaka U.S. Open final.

I interviewed Dr. Marcia Chatelain about using history as an applied science and navigating 2018 without losing your everlovin’ mind for Shondaland.com.

One of my favorite pieces from Ubitennis.com was a belated and grudging appreciation for the career of Martina Hingis.

In Polk Life magazine, I wrote about the best vacation I ever had.

In Belt Magazine, I wrote about abandoned houses in North Braddock.

I wrote about how I learned about tennis and love at the same time for Tennis magazine. Still so proud of this piece!
