About me

Hi! I’m Nafari Morris. I’m a writer, journalist and speaker. I spent my 17-year journalism career in newsrooms in North Carolina, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Florida. As a freelance writer, I’ve been published in The Washington Post, Shondaland, Adweek, Leaps magazines, and many other publications. I’m working on a book, called The B- Section, that chronicles my career in local journalism against a backdrop of a changing industry with trademark journalism-gallows humor, heart and a passion for an industry I still love.

I’m also the founder, designer and writer for Tennis with Attitude, a blog about professional and recreational tennis – all done with a salty and appropriate level of attitude.

My fiction work has been featured in Narrative magazine.

I’m also a public relations professional who uses my journalism experience to get and keep attention in my current role as a communications coordinator. I was a guest speaker at a “Journalism and Democracy” panel at the University of North Carolina while the Tar Heels were playing for the men’s basketball championship. People came anyway!

I currently live with my children, dogs and ever-growing collection of tennis paraphernalia. (It’s all under control. You don’t have to check.)
